Parliament can see the “spirit” of Om Puri’s speech only if he reveals the “brand”

August 29, 2011

Is it not ironical that while people cheered both Om Puri and Kiran Bedi when they mocked the MPs while supporting Anna, now they have to fight their battle on their own with no support. Om Puri is now almost confessing that he actually behaved like a “gavar” while calling the MPs the same. Kiran Bedi on the other hand is trying to glorify it as “game changer”. Om Puri wants the MPs to see the “spirit” behind the speech – surely it will be one of those expensive brands – “Black Label ???”

It was a movement of 12+ days with many so called celebrities making fools of themselves both on TV as well as on the Stage in Ramlila Maidan. It is amazing that people like Shobha De think that they can preach the whole world just because they can write a few columns in daily newspapers and magazines. All of them displayed their intolerance to the views of others and behaved exactly like our MPs not allowing others to speak. They just proved the old adage – Keep your mouth shut and let others think that you are ignorant rather than opening your mouth and confirming it.

Our TV anchors displayed their political leanings – some very very clearly like Arnab Goswami and others a little less clearly like Rajdeep Sardesai and Burka Dutt. The editors of various magazines who were in the news with “Radia Tapes” took this opportunity to distance themselves from Congress.

Ended with a mixed feeling – Our so called literate class can only comment, make fools of themselves, fight to hog the limelight on the prime time TV but you really need a rustic like Anna to bring any reform. Vande Mataram, Bharat Mata Ki Jai
