Mr. Ram Jethmalani, please stop making a fool of yourself

September 20, 2011

Mr. Ram Jethmalani, the famous (rather notorious) lawyer is turning out to be a comic character. The only difference is that while most of the comic characters bring a smile on your face, this man by his actions and utterances makes you run to the bathroom and throw up.

To start with, he shoots his mouth off and abuses everybody and accuses the government of shielding the corrupt. Gives an impression that he is the most honest man on earth – next only to god.

As a lawyer, he doesn’t practice anything which he preaches. He appears in the court for the most corrupt. He has represented Kanimozhi and Reliance executives in the 2G case and now Amar Singh in the cash for votes scam. If you look at his past track record, most of his clients have a dubious track record. In fact, he is the lawyer of last resort for any criminal. If they can’t get any good lawyer to argue for them, then they go to Ram Jethmalani. He surely obliges them.

Doesn’t this make him corrupt ? He seems to think it is only the job of government to control corruption. Lawyers and Advocates who represent people who are known for looting are equally corrupt. They have no moral right to talk about corruption.

He was nominated to Rajya Sabha by the BJP and I am sure they are regretting the decision. The only saving grace is that the man is quite old and senile and even the most corrupt may not find him effective anymore.

A man who had been caught embezzling millions from his employer went to a lawyer seeking defense. He didn’t want to go to jail. But his lawyer told him, “Don’t worry. You’ll never have to go to jail with all that money. And the lawyer was right. When the man was sent to prison, he didn’t have a dime.

As for Jethmalani “By the time you get out of jail, I would have taken care of all your money”!!

You can’t blame him. We need to put a retirement age for Lawyers as well or face these situations! Well another way to look at it is if we did not have folks like him then many would end up not having a defense lawyer! BJP must have thought better to have him on their side except he seems to even forget that part!:)
